Mexican with a twist.

El Tizoncito. Oh, El Tizoncito. There is not a thing going through my mind while writing this review but sheer pleasure.  I was looking forward to the day where I had to write this review and it’s finally here. I have visited both the Forest Lane location and the Lemmon location and it is more than fair to say the consistency is all there.
To start off this magnificent journey into a more “upscale” take on a Mexico City style taqueria, I must begin with the fact that they serve you a black bean soup free as a starter. Yes, a black bean soup as a starter for free and it’s damn good. There are no chips and salsa here folks but don’t let that discourage you. The prices are really cheap considering this is a sit down and eat full service restaurant.
Now, on to the food and alcohol. It is imperative that while here you start off with the choriquezo which Is melted jack cheese and chorizo on top of three flour tortillas or the rajas con queso which is the same concept except with pepper slices as opposed to the chorizo. If you are a drinker then you need to get one of the tamarind margaritas(a delicious tamarind flavored margarita served either on the rocks or frozen with a delicious chili powder rim) or a Michelada with your favorite Mexican beer(if you do not know what a michelada is google it for Christ’s sake). If you are not a boozer like the rest of us do not worry as they do serve “aguas frescas” and soft drinks.
The food is also amazing. So far I can only comment on the tacos al pastor which come to an order or three and are right off the “trompo” and are served with diced pineapples on the side(cilantro ,onion ,and salsa are all at the table in these cute little things) so u can add to your liking and believe me when I tell you ,do it. The tortas all seem really good and I have had awesome feedback about them from sources and friends that have tried them. Apparently the “Cubana” is the torta(Mexican sandwich) of choice.
Well hope this review has done you well. Now run, run like the wind and get you some tizoncito. I shall race you there and,if you win, first round is on me.
